Flew to Vegas Sun 1/28 for 2 nights Flamingo. 1st night com%26#39;d ,2nd $57 regular room.

Flew to Vegas via Allegiant from Missoula. Direct flight %26lt; 2 hr flight. We actually arrived 15 minutes early but had to sit on Tarmac because Plane was still in our Gate..so our actual time was what it should have been. Line at Airport Check-in at 145pm Sunday was long so I opted for Hotel check-in

I had booked a Sedan to meet me W/liquor store stop for $59. My driver met me at Baggage Claim W/no problems finding her.She retrieved my Baggage and off we went . She asked me if there was a specific Store I had wanted to stop at , I said no and she told me of this Bar/Store that sells Liquor and was not crowded. I said Ok and Yes she was telling the truth%26gt; She went in w/ me and I was immediately helped. Any kind of liqour I wanted and no hassles of lines to wait in. I figured prices might be Jacked up BUt they were comparable. I bought 1 bottle Grey Goose(PREMIUM VODKA) and 4-pack red-bull for $32 w/limo discount . Which is a great deal.

Then off to Flamingo. Check in Line was LONG,but moved fast. I was thru line in about 20 minutes. OK now heres where my 1st $20 tip paid off. I got to counter and was greeted by very NiceLady. She asked my name and looked up my reservation. I Then had my $20 folded w/CC,License and handed to her to make sure she saw it and I asked about Any complimentary Upgrades available Or Go-Room upgrades . She typed a while and said she had a nie room w/Caesars view. I really had headr great things on Go-Rooms so I asked if she had 1 of those. She typed a few more minutes and said w/ My compd rate already she didn%26#39;t know if she could ,BUT she would go ask .SHe printed something off and went in back. A few minutes later came back, and said'; I was very Polite'; and said they would usually charge an upgrade of$50 per night for these rooms,But her Manager said to just charge$25. SO my total for 2nights New Go-Room $107. I was Like YESSS.

She wanted to find a good room for me. She asked if I would Mind Waiting until 4 to get room ,and since I had haircut at 3pm I said No problem. My room ended up being on 19th floor facing Ballys/Barbary Coast with FULL VIEW of Bellagio fountains,Eiffel Tower, BEAUTIFUL Room, Those Go-Rooms are Amazing!! I am glad you got a nice room - but doubt the 20 did it. asking nicely, the clerk had to get permission, which is not uncommon, and she did. you have no way of knowing if it was the 20 or not, many get upgrades without it. and you did pay for the upgrade, not a freebie. it the total cost with the 20 was worth it to you that is all that matters.

I agree with you. The $20 trick does work in many instances.

I was at dollar rent a car....I had paid for a compact for the week. When I showed up...I explained to the nice lady while holding out a folded $20 that I needed a mini van....I was exhausted...and pointed to the direction of my mother, her walker, suitcases, medical equipment and such....

she smiled at me and told me everything would be okay....to pick out any minivan i wanted....just make sure I have ';the time of my life';....she was amazing !

It makes an excellent way to start your gambling off on the ';winning'; foot.

She had no problem accepting 20. She took my cards and money and placed money under keyboard. She took alot of Extra time trying to find a suitable room ,So even though I as charged an Extra 25 a day, The View and room were definately worth a few extra, and Im going back in a week and a half and end of Feb..Can wait..Flights are so cheap from MT.

So you embarrased yourself and the lady, grovelled for a deal and comrromised her job - and all to save $5 ? That is assuming that the upgrade was $50 anyway.

The manager in the back room probably just rolled his eyes and said, ';what a chump. Just tell chump that we usually charge $50 more and make him cough up another $25.';.

Lesson to be learned --- KEEP WHATEVER SELF-RESPECT YOU HAVE. DON%26#39;t SELL YOURSELF OUT.

You just stay in your outhouse and enjoy your regular view, or keep on looking at Beautiful Vegas views on TV.

The only cast iron fact on the $20 trick topic is, that unless the check in person is subsequently questioned under oath, it%26#39;s impossible to say whether it worked or not. For every successful %26#39;bribe%26#39; there%26#39;s another case where the upgrade would have happened anyway with or without the $20.

I prefer to keep my self-respect and just ask politely and pleasantly and have had my share of free upgrades doing just that.
