Makes perfect sense to me!
Unruly Kids Poll
I really never have understood people who blame the children for their behavior in these situations, where they are taken to a strange city, dragged around in the heat all day long, getting little to no sleep and expected to act like perfect angels out in public all day.
People who blame the kids for this must not have kids of their own, it%26#39;s almost always the responsibility of the parents.
Hey,
in my day,
kids were seen and not heard
;-)
I always wonder, what are there for the kids to do in Vegas? I was quite surprised to see that many kids on my first trip few years ago. My parents never took me there when I was young and none of my family or friends ever took their kids there. So called the sights those parents list as ';fun for kids,'; they can never be compared to other vacation spots. What can you ';learn'; from fake pyramid or Eiffel Tower?
Sure, why take your kids to see the fake eiffel tower when you can take them to see the real thing right lol. I don%26#39;t get the kid friendly attractions argument that people put forward for bringing the kids to vegas. I have a couple little ones myself but it will be just the wife and I in october for our trip. That%26#39;s the biggest reason to come to a place like vegas to get away from them for a while. Besides they will have more fun with grandma by far than they ever would being dragged from hotel to hotel all day long in the desert heat.
I can see bringing kids with you and going to see the hoover dam, grand canyon etc and taking a drive down the strip at night to see the lights, that would be fun for them, but staying on the strip when they are looked at as a nuisance at best. why do that to them, when there are so many better kid friendly destinations around?
Ya know what? My great grandparents didn%26#39;t have indoor plumbing! Fortunately my grandparents looked at things a little differently.
Island Blue,
Do you buy the premise that ';kids have gotten wilder?'; They were pretty wild in my day, too.
Were those reasons the only choices?
It%26#39;s interesting that the category of negative images via television and advertising wasn%26#39;t included. How about all those smart alec kids they show on sitcoms, tv ads, etc? There%26#39;s incredible influence there as well.
Another interesting point is that each reason could have it%26#39;s own survery, e.g.: Why do you think parents don%26#39;t keep their children in check?
a) Both parents are out working trying to keep up the price of homes and gasoline and are too tired at the end of the day.
b) Parents are just too permissive in their childrearing skills.
c) Parents are out playing, not being parents.
d) Divorce
Another question is: Could the answers be different among a) region, b) socioeconomic brackets, etc, etc., etc. . .
While such a cute little survey looks to have weight, it has nothing, in my uninformed opinion.
Another survey could be this:
Why would someone choose to post this survey?
a) To propagate the notion that children are unruly.
b) To support the notion that children are unruly and, therefore, are unacceptable visitors to L.V.
c) To stir the pot.
More food for thought

My kids have seen the real Eiffel tower and the ';fake'; Vegas one!!
And i can think of loads of reasons why they prefer Vegas to Paris, one being the people (most of them) are much much more friendly in Vegas than in France.
My friend and I wondered while wandering around Vegas last week - Why all the kids?
I came up with two scenarios that seemed acceptable reasons for bringing them.
1. Coming to a wedding. Family thing everyone comes to the wedding. Ok I buy that and if I have a sister or someone close decide to marry in Vegas I will be there with my kiddos.
2. Doing a tour vacation - you know Disneyland, Grand Canyon and a night in Vegas for the parents. This is reasonable - it%26#39;s mom and dad%26#39;s vacation also.
If I was going to Vegas with my kids I would bring an older cousin, grandma, or someone to stay in the room with the kids and watch movies at night so mom and dad can get in some adult time.
Vegas is grueling for everyone, it%26#39;s hot, lots of walking, and strangers so kids can%26#39;t really have kid time.
I saw no kids out of control, being ';wild'; or anyway really acting out - they were hot, tired, crowded and not having fun. Parents please give them time to play. Bowling, arcade, swimming, wax museum, find maybe skating or whatever for the kids. The plane ride home was worse then Vegas it%26#39;s self. They cried and fussed and talked alot. So bring to Vegas and drive home with them!!! Just kidding!
UKJackie,
You thought French were not nice? Maybe they didn%26#39;t like British people. Hahaha. Just kidding. ;-) I%26#39;ve been to London many times and loved it every time. I%26#39;m looking forward for one more trip to London then to Scotland this coming fall.
At least your children had an experience of seeing the real thing, Jackie! They now can compare the real one to the fake one.
