female travelling alone

I will be travelling with friends around the NW of America but will be flying in and out of Vegas alone. As I will be in Vegas it seems a shame not to extend my trip by a couple of days and see the sights, however, as I will be alone I am not sure if it is a good idea or not.

If anyone has any thoughts, comments or ideas I would be most greatful.

With thanks

Vegas is a great safe place for a female traveling alone, as long as you don%26#39;t stay in a funky motel off the beaten path. You will not regret staying and playing and going to attractions and restaurants solo, don%26#39;t forget some spa time too.

I%26#39;ve covered tis topic in Trip Reports, go to the search forums above and type this in :

You should be fine traveling alone! I agree with Foxy that you should pick a decent hotel on the Strip so that you will feel the most secure. There are hotels in all price ranges on the Strip. There is plenty to see and do-lots of shopping, shows, gambling, dining, etc, so you will have a great time.

Hi Gotthebug,

I was in Vegas solo for a few days back in September before heading to Seattle to visit some friends. I had an absolute blast and met some really nice people. I found that being a Brit helped to break the ice a wee bit.

I%26#39;d definitely echo the comments above about hotels, I stayed at TI which was pretty good. If you would like some tips on good bars/clubs to hit then let me know and i%26#39;ll do my best. Out of interest how old are you?

Hope that help

Andy

I frequently go to Vegas alone and I love it. I have been on the strip, downtown and even off strip during the day and at night and I have never had any problems. You will be on your own schedule- not someone else%26#39;s schedule. You won%26#39;t have to worry about where to eat, what shows to see, what time to get up, etc-you can do what you want, how you want and go where you want to go. You just have to use common sense as far as safety is concerned- but everyone has to do that. You will be perfectly safe if you stick to the tourist areas. Don%26#39;t let being alone influence you decisions as to what to do in Vegas. Look up various hotels, shows, restaurants and then just go!! I%26#39;ve gone to both inexpensive and expensive restaurants alone - don%26#39;t think you have to stick to buffets or sit at the bars in restaurants. People are very friendly and it is easy to make new temporary friends while there. I have never been bored or lonely- just the opposite. Forget about the fact that you are alone and do what everyone else does- go see the attractions, eat at nice restaurants , see a show or two- and generally have a ball!

Thanks to for your messages- thats made my mind up, Las Vegas here I come!!!

Andy - in answer to your question I%26#39;m in my late twenties.

Better get cracking on finding a hotel!!!

While I have never gone to vegas alone, I did get into the habit of dropping hubby off to the hotel at 10pm, and then going out on my own until about 2am each night.

I went to shows, downtown, walked the strip...everything...it was great! The only place I felt alone was when I went to a 1/2 price ticket outlet alone at about 9pm. That was weird. But fine.

When are you travelling?

I have never been to Vegas alone, but I would have no problem going alone. I have walked at night alone when people wanted to go somewhere else or go to bed and I wanted to stay out, and never felt unsafe. Have a great trip.

While I didn%26#39;t go on the whole trip alone, I did spend some alone time on a trip with my mom last November. She wasn%26#39;t feeling well so I spent a few evenings off eating and gambling alone. I never felt unsafe at all! Once it got later and I%26#39;d had a few drinks I did feel safer staying and playing in the casino we were staying in - I probably wouldn%26#39;t wander around alone late at night on the Strip. But otherwise, Vegas would be one of the few places I%26#39;d do a solo trip. Enjoy yours!

It is perfectly safe being on the strip alone at night. As people have said- just use common sense. I have gone to Vegas over 60 times and on every trip I have been alone at night on the stip at some point during the visit- even if I didn%26#39;t go to Vegas alone. Nothing- and I mean absolutely nothing- bad has ever happened to me. I would not remain the hotel I was staying at night- there is just too much to do and see in Vegas.
