I checked with them and they said that the windows have been locked and screwed so that no one can jump or fall out of the windows. Since I prefer to have a window open I don%26#39;t like that very much. Anyone have an idea if it%26#39;s possible that we open the window ourselves with a screwdriver and lock them again when checking out.
barbary coast, can windows be opened?
When i was there the last time they had small windows in the shower. It was nice to open those to let the fresh vegas air in. I don%26#39;t rmember those being big enough to matter.
barbary coast, can windows be opened?
Whether it be a hotel or an office building, it%26#39;s pretty standard in high-rises that the windows don%26#39;t open for a number of reasons. It%26#39;s debatable whether Barbary Coast really counts as a high-rise, but there are different reasons there for not having windows that open. Because the rooms are only a few floors from the ground, if you open your window you are going to get a LOT of noise from the street at virtually all hours of the day and night. If you haven%26#39;t been to Vegas before it%26#39;s hard to understand that it really is a 24-hour city.
If being able to open a window is a critical feature for you, you don%26#39;t want to be staying in a big casino hotel like Barbary Coast. You%26#39;d have better luck with one of the many motel-style properties, and save money into the bargain.
One more thing: Depending on when you are traveling, the climate can make open windows unfeasible. In the summer, daytime temperatures get well over 100 degrees Farenheit.
We just returned from the Barbary Coast, the large window in the room IS locked and you probably would never be able to open it. However, the window in the bathroom does open to let in some fresh air. If you really want to be able to open a window, stay at the Imperial Palace where you can open the door and step out onto the tiny balcony. But that is about the only redeeming quality of the IP!
There are a few hotels in Vegas that have balconies or windows that open a little bit. But you cannot open the windows in most Vegas hotel rooms. The Coast hotels have small windows in the bathrooms that open which I find very nice. I think if you even attempted to open a window with a screwdriver or whatever and they found out about it -you would probably be kicked out of the hotel! Find another hotel or live with the fact that you will have only a small window that opens(which is more than most hotels have in Vegas).
Thanks all of you for your response. I just discovered the Platinum and think that this one may be the best option for us, since they have balconies. And it is a new hotel, so it probably will be in good condition.
Be aware that the Platinum is a good 10-15 minute walk to the Strip and it%26#39;s not such a great neighborhood to walk in after dark.
Have you ever smelled Vegas?
