There seems to be a lot of inquiry regarding renting scooters while in Vegas. Since I did this for my mother back in October...(and haven%26#39;t written my trip report yet)....I decided I better share some of my knowledge on this subject.
We rented an electric scooter for a week from Active Mobility. They have a website. Dear Mom is72 and suffers from neuropathy-can%26#39;t feel her feet. Once she got on the the scooter, we were out and about until about midnight every night. One night, it was about 2am....and I said...listen, you zip around on your scooter all day....but I AM EXHAUSTED !
If you decide to use active mobility....you can call them in advance and tell them that you will be at a different casino in the evening....say the Orleans casino, and they will reserve another scooter for you over there right by the door. Then you don%26#39;t have to worry about how to get your scooter over to the other casino. We did this with Sam%26#39;s town as well as downtown. That way, transporting the scooter we actually rented was no problem.
They are very accommodating. Also, there is a 10% discount if you mention that you saw their ad on their website.
They gave us a 24 hour cell phone # in case we had any problems. We did have a problem once, and the gentleman on the phone talked us thru it...and it was solved within 2 minutes.
If you do take a taxi somewhere...the bellman at the taxi stand will happily ride the scooter to a holding area and give you a luggage tag for claiming it when you return. The guys were actually excited about getting to ride it for a bit !
Also, all casinos are handicap accessable. Anywhere you see an escalator...there will be an elevator right near by. No problem. At buffets, they will ask you to park it at the entrance and walk to your table if you can.
Also, you are the only one with a key...no one will steal it...and they have a basket in front. The seat was really really cushy and comfortable. Because my mom is large, she had to get the model for her weight. It had a full back rest. It was awsome!
If needed, we could have rented ramps for getting it in and out of a van. We did not need to do this. Valet parking guys lifted it most times (we tipped generously), and twice we reserved one at a specific casino. Nothing stopped us.
The regular models come apart easily. The larger size ones do not.
Some models have a high backrest, and some have low.
When walking down the strip...anywhere that there are sidewalks that go up and over the strip....there will be an elevator. It is just a bit more time consuming. The elevator in front of the Barbary Coast was broken...so we just went down the road a bit and then crossed. Not a problem.
If you pre arrange for the scooter...it will be at the bell desk near the check in of your hotel. I cannot praise this company enough. They went over and beyond the call of duty.
If you go somewhere without it...don%26#39;t be hesitant to ask for a regular wheelchair. They are free of charge at most casinos. Also, the shows will have a place for her to park the scooter as well, and just walk a few feet to your seat or sit on the scooter during the show...your choice.
While you are sleeping in your hotel, you just plug in the battery, and it%26#39;s good to go for another day.

Dueling pianos at NYNY
The Rat Pack is Back at the Greek Isles
to name a few.
Basicaly, nothing stopped us. We shopped, ate, gambled and laughed until we couldn%26#39;t laugh anymore. It was the best vacation. If her heart is well enough, we will go back next year. DO NOT let a disability discourage you from seeing all that Vegas has to offer. Expecially the memories.
Sure, Mom ran over a display case every now and then....but no one was injured. We%26#39;d stand it back up....reset everything....and then proceed to the next store, giggling like little girl%26#39;s !

Sherry, thank you so much for providing this very useful information. Not only may I need it for my own mother, but several friends lately have inquired about taking their parent to Vegas but are hesitant because of their immobility. I%26#39;m going to forward on (and save!)
Great news! So when my feet finally fall off from walking through the MGM for the 50th trip, I can still hang out and run down little kids who get in my way! (J/K folks!)
