affordabletravel.org?

A friend just asked me about this group. Does anyone have any experience with them? Apparently you pay a $39 fee and get discounted and free airline tickets.

You mean none of you world travelers have heard of them? Guess it tells me something.

I have heard of them , but never used them ( of course). They call themselves a ';Travel Club'; and the company seems to do business under several names- another being cheaptravel.com. I think when you see multiple names you know there%26#39;s something a bit fishy. I think under the ';cheap travel'; club there are numerous complaints on sites like ripoff reprts.com , from folks who felt they got nothing for their ';membership fee.'; I think you%26#39; d be doing your friend a favor by telling them to steer clear. The old phrase ';If it sounds too good to be true'; likely applies here.

Thanks I had a feeling. My friend asked me about it and I told her I would ask my knowlegable friends on TA

I think one of their ideas for ';bargain fares'; is to have you sign up for listings of ';Courier '; flights , where youeget a flight for a greatly reduced price by agreeing to carry a carry on only and let some company use your baggage allowance to transport papers- it was all the rage a few years ago as a supposed way to get cheap international flights , but really doesn%26#39;t work well in most cases- for a variety of reasons , including that you must be ready to go on a moments notice and usually have to return in a day or two. A teacher where I used to work thought it sounded like a good idea, paid some fees to someone to register and never came up with anything she could use for travel. I think that is one of the many ';benefits'; of membership in their ';Travel Club.';

You might want to show your friend this post about cheaptrips.com , which shares the same mailing address with Affordable Travel .com in Cherry Hill New Jersey and mentions them on theirwebsite. This is one of 15 posts about them on ripoff reports about failure to deliver what was promised or to refund money: Several mention filing complaints with teh New Jersey Attorney General.

Someone else was asking today about a website called wdwpackages.com in the Orlando Forum and it%26#39;s the same group with yet a third website promising travel bargains!

Thanks LuLuToo. I appreciate the follow-up.
