My husband and I are going out to Vegas in a few weeks and were wondering what the best golf course out there is? We heard the Wynn was great, but it is extremely expensive. Looking for a somewhat challenging, nice course to play. Any other ideas?? Thanks
Best golf in Vegas
Silygirl, Shadow Creek is the best course in Vegas. It is same price as Wynn. You want to drive an hour and play a beautiful, very challenging course for much less, then play the Wolf Creek course in Mesquite.
Best golf in Vegas
You heard wrong, Wynn is far from the best, just the most expensive.
Best course in Vegas is subjective, Shadow Creek is nice, but it does not get my vote as the best. If you really want a very nice one, rent a car for a day, and go to Mesquite to Wolf Creek. The green fees for two, plus a rental car will be less expensive than one green fee @ Wynn. Besides you have to stay at Wynn to play the course.
Silygirl, glad to see I agree with VHB at least partially. I should have asked what ability level are you two? Mesquite is difficult. Beautiful vistas but vertical tee shots with forced carries and lots of testy shots. What scores do you shoot? How much do you want to pay each? There are other alternatives if you don%26#39;t want to drive but Mesquite is one of the best in the state.
My husband is an assistant golf pro at a local country club. He is about a 3 handicap. Me on the other hand, I just go along to check all the course out and take pictures. So althought I said ';we'; were going, really he will be golfing, I will be driving the golf cart. Because he is a PGA member, price really isn%26#39;t an issue. Usually there is some professional courtesy between golf clubs, which gets us a discounted rate. Not sure if we will make it out of Vegas, but Mesquite looks really nice. Any other suggestions in Vegas. Thanks
Silygirl, a 3-hanicapper, what a hack:%26gt;)
Seriously, I am a local, and a PGA member myself, so play anywhere you want, it shouldn%26#39;t cost your hubby one thin dime. I still suggest you rent the car and play Wolf Creek.
Hmmmm, maybe VHB will respond again as he also has a PGA card. Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas would be a good choice. It%26#39;s an excellent upscale course and your husband should be able to get on. It%26#39;s where they do the Wendy%26#39;s Three Tour Challange if you%26#39;ve seen it on TV. A personal favorite. Let%26#39;s see if he responds.
Sillygirl, I should elaborate.
Wherever you decide to play, your Hubby will not be able to play free with a reserved tee-time if it is busy. Don%26#39;t sweat that though. Most people who play go in twosomes and threesomes. So there is a lot of open positions. Just call the course the day you play and ask the to speak with the pro. Then ask where the openings are at, then go out around that time as a walk-on. Has never failed me and my buddies. I have not payed for a round since I became a PGA member 10 years ago anywhere in the USA, UK, and Japan.
Under, Reflection Bay gets my vote as one of LV best, even though it technically is not in LV.
If her husband really is a PGA member, all he has to do is call out to about any course in town and ask to speak with the pro, get local opinions, and they will direct him with a direct phone number of the course(s) of interest..
Vegas, are you a Class A pro or an apprentice level? There is a big difference, as we found out. My husband is not yet a class A, so usually he has to pay a small fee when he plays. Last year we went to cabo, mexico and played cabo real and they charged us like $60 plus cart, which wasn%26#39;t bad. Had he been a Class A it would have been free. Guess thats the extra perk you get when you finish the program...
Trck question. I am a full PGA PGM member and Head Golf Professional at a CC in Oklahoma. I maintain residence in both NV and OK. What level is Hubby at in his apprenticeship? 1, 2, or 3? If he is not advancing, you know he has to start over again after 8 years.
