Ok, so I%26#39;ve heard very bad things about this place.
Myself and two friends are looking for cheap-ish accomodation on the strip in October (11-15). Circus Circus seems like the most likely option, but thought I%26#39;d better check with the experts here if there are any other options.
So, I guess I%26#39;m just wondering if, firstly, Circus Circus is all THAT bad (is it too far away from the rest of the strip, too many kids, generally a dive?), and secondly, are there any other places on the strip for someone who doesn%26#39;t want to pay a huge amount for accomodation?
Thanks everyone.
Circus Circus
it is THAT bad.
what is your price range and dates? you can get more help if we know specifics. what is huge amount to you?
monte carlo is a value on the strip, not the cheapest but a true value.
barbary coast also worth exploring.
other cheap-ish places as bad as CC (IP comes to mind)
these are subjective opinions - some people like CC and IP, so a very personal decision.
Circus Circus
I%26#39;ll echo the above post. The last time I was there, my shoes stuck to the carpet in the casino. The location leaves a lot to be desired as it is way up north on the strip and not really within walking distance of anything. Check out the Monte Carlo, Imperial Palace or Barbary Coast....
I know a lot of people don%26#39;t like it either, but I would definitly choose Excalibur over Circus Circus. Plus, it%26#39;s near Mandalay Bay, Luxor, NYNY and MGM Grand.
CC is on the Strip Map-wise, But it is farther from the ';Strip '; then you will realize.. Excalibur,Casino Royale, and Barbary Coast are better options Price wise, and they are on the ';strip';. GL
Just had a 6 night stay at the Luxor..........$69 a night. The rate decreased 3x over 2 weeks. It was originally $119 a night when I booked. It%26#39;s at the other end of the strip but we didn%26#39;t mind because we rented a car.
Dirty and overrun with kids/strollers.
With the Stardust and Westward Ho gone, the only ones close by CC are Slots-A-Fun (another dive) and the Riviera.
Choose somewhere else.
Check out Barbary Coast.
CC is great if you have kids.
I haven%26#39;t stayed there so I can%26#39;t comment on the rooms. It is at the far end of the strip. You are going to have to rely a bus or a cab (assuming you don%26#39;t rent a car) to get to the main attractions. There really isn%26#39;t much around hotel. It is a ';family'; hotel so there are a lot of kids lurking around. I would try the Barbary Coast, Monte Carlo or even Imperial Palace. If those were too expensive I would then try some off strip hotels that have shuttles and are not too far from the strip- Orleans or Gold Coast.
Don%26#39;t do it!
Now for what people are not telling you. CC cleaned up ther joint, replaced all the carpet, installed air filtration, and over-all cleaned the joint up quite a bit. It still is a family hotel, but that is its niche market.
So if you are looking for a clean room, don%26#39;t mind the location and children, have at it.
