Looking for opinions on The Hotel. I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s one of the better places for the thirtysomething crowd. True?
My concern with MB is its location at the far end of the strip instead of in the ';middle of the action'; like the Bellagio, Mirage, etc. Valid concern?
The Hotel at MB
I love the rooms there, the decor, the bathrooms are worth every penny. The service was good but nothing like Wynn or Four Seasons or even Bellagio but if you aren%26#39;t going hoping to have people tripping over themselves to open doors for you and the such then that shouldn%26#39;t matter too much. I like the bars at Mandalay Bay and the other South Strip hotels so location was great for me, it%26#39;s very easy to get to Luxor, NYNY, and MGM. That being said, if you haven%26#39;t been to the strip before a central hotel would make touring the strip easier. As far as hotels directly in the center of things go, I think Caesars is probably the best of the hotels for the thirtysomethings (I%26#39;m 33 and I like hanging out there a lot). Bellagio is a great hotel but I hated tripping over tourists with cameras everytime I went in or out. That%26#39;s why I like THEhotel so much, because pretty much the only people in the lobby there are guests and Mandalay Bay is right down the hall.
The Hotel at MB
I will be first time visitor and staying at The Hotel. Would like to know how far is the walk to MGM or is there a shuttle or is a cab preferable. Appreciate any replies.
There is a tram from Mandalay Bay that takes you to Excalibur. You then just cross a bridge from Excalibur to NYNY and another bridge to MGM (they are directly across the street from one another.) It isn%26#39;t hard at all. The tram runs about every 7 minutes or so.

The shuttle to the MGM/NYNY corner is easy and free. That would be a good move. Getting anywhere else on the strip (Bellagio/Paris) is a long, long walk.
II like MB/The Hotel but I would opt for the MGM Signature - which matches up with THE Hotel in some ways. I like the location a lot more. From the MGM SIgnature it%26#39;s an easy walk to Bellagio/Paris and directly conected to MGM - much like TheHotel/MB connection. Also, MGM Sig directly connect to Monorail for places farther north on strip. And of course the free MB/MGM shuttle works both ways.
Let me put it to you this way: I used to stay at MB and then constantly take the free shutte up to the MGM area (like everyone else) - but when I styayed at MGM I would *maybe* take the free shuttle down to MB. There are just a lot more options transportation-wise if you are staying at MGM - MB is one of them but not the only one.
Signature will provide the amenities (actually better) that you would expect at THE Hotel.
Thanks JackandSally. Of the restaurants in MB, which would you recommend for a really special dinner?
Silas (and anyone else), can you compare/contrast the MB vs. MGM crowd and vibe? I%26#39;m looking for more of a thirtysomething crowd which would also factor into any decision between The Hotel and Signature.

I%26#39;ve heard but great thing about The Mix. Great view of the stip as well. I%26#39;m thinking of taking my wife there in July.
I may be wrong but my take was kind of that MB/The Hotel is low-30 -something crowd and Signature is high-30-something crowd. That may be splitting hairs though - I thnk they are close to eachother.
Signature is new so the demographics are probably evolving as more people discover it. I loved the non-smoking aspect of the Signature.
Both MGM and Mandalay Bay are great places to stay but I think TheHotel is excellent with regards to the rooms and MB has a much better (younger too) atmosphere. Border Grill is good at MB by the way.
