NFL rules on Super Bowl parties

Did everyone see this article (or heard the story)

theindychannel.com/sports/鈥?/a>

';The NFL has nixed a church%26#39;s plans to use a wall projector to show the Colts-Bears Super Bowl game, saying it would violate copyright laws.';

';NFL objected to the church%26#39;s plans to use a projector to show the game, saying the law limits it to one TV no bigger than 55 inches.';

So no sports book in vegas will have more than 1 TV showing the SB? And that 1 TV will be smaller than 55 inches?

I don%26#39;t think so.

And just how will the NFL be able to police every little party? What a joke. Yeah, like them suing a church will be good publicity for the NFL. My guess is that the casinos have to pay some sort of licensing fee, especially if they want to use the words ';Super Bowl'; in advertising.

The answer to your question is right there in the link that you posted:

';NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league%26#39;s long-standing policy is to ban ';mass out-of-home viewing'; of the Super Bowl. An exception is made for sports bars and other businesses that show televised sports as a part of their everyday operations.';

';My guess is that the casinos have to pay some sort of licensing fee, especially if they want to use the words ';Super Bowl'; in advertising.';

That%26#39;s why they DON%26#39;T use the words ';Super Bowl';. The rights to be an official sponsor run into the millions of dollars. That%26#39;s why all the ';unoffical'; ads you see these days use terms like ';the big game';.

I wouldn%26#39;t look for the NFL to license the Super Bowl to any casinos anytime soon for ANY amount of money.
