Heading to Vegas in June, I know that Sahara is at the top of the strip (not the best location) and Excalibur is prime location, but for the price EX is $142 average and Sahara is $82 average. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks in advance for the help!

Sahara or Excalibur
cjeffg24, Im staying at the Excalibur in June also I have a post asking about the hotel look under my name and you read some of the answers there.
Sahara or Excalibur
i%26#39;ve stayed at the Sahara. it was a basic accomodation. nothing fancy, but it suited out needs. yes, it%26#39;s pretty far removed from the rest of teh stip, but if you choose to stay there, you might want to consider investing in a monorail pass. it%26#39;s at the top of the line and will take you all the way down to the MGM. yes, monorail stations are waaaay in teh back of the casinos, yes, it%26#39;s a bit of a hike, but you walk everywhere in vegas. so what%26#39;s the diff? hubby checked out the lounge shows in the Sahara and he rather enjoyed them. the buffet is alright, nothing to right home about. and the price is right. if you are being away from the ';action'; and spending some extra $$ on travelling throughout the day, it%26#39;s not a bad choice.
We%26#39;ve also walked from Sahara down to TI/Wynn. i know some ppl think the ';construction zone'; is ';scary'; but it%26#39;s on the main street, and we never had any worries about feelign unsafe. the walk, if anything, is just a little boring til you get down to Circus Circus area.
but if location/excitement is more what you%26#39;re looking for, it might be worth it for you to go to Excal, since it%26#39;s got a much better location.
cjeffg24, actually you are almost at the far end of the northstrip @ Excal. and except for CC and Strat Sahara is @ the Southend. Neither are the best locations.
I do not know where you got your prices but you can stay @ either place for $59/nt. If you want a cheaper rate sign up on both wedsites for email specials. Check out others as well. Luxor will run specials and it is nicer than either Excal or Sahara. Bally%26#39;s is comfortable and in the same price range. Just got a Luxor 2nt free for one night for $70.00
As to the two hotels you named, Excal is kiddie land due to the castle theme and big arcade. The Sahara is Nascar theme and is a little worn down.
June starts the hot season and you can get good rates if you will check each web site in April!
So do you recommend booking a plane ticket without having reservations at the hotel? I just don%26#39;t want to end up with a ticket to Vegas and no ';nice'; place to stay. I%26#39;ll sign up on the websites that you suggested, thanks for the help!
cj, we go 4 times a year and have done the expedia, funjet stuff and found that you can shop around for the best air then as I said 3 months before you go check the websites and they will show';summer specials'; or simular named specials. Believe me you can almost always get a room at Excal and for about $10 more a night the Luxor. BCoast has good rates (no pool) Flamingo will also!
