Avoiding maid service

Call me crazy, but I have been to vegas 15 or so times and have never let the maid clean my room. I have always felt I was more than capable of cleaning up after myself and didn%26#39;t really want a complete stranger alone in my room for a half hour or however long it takes. I also have no problem with using the same towel twice, although there are usually enough clean towels provided to not have to do this.

And since the maid is not cleaning the room, I am also saving the $5 or so per day tip.

Does anyone else do this?

Do you think that deep down the maids really resent this?

Avoiding maid service

Why do you care who is in your room?

What do you have in there, other than your clothes?

I don%26#39;t care about using the towels twice either, but since the service is part of the room rate, why not?

Saving $5 a day won%26#39;t make me rich, so I use the service, and tip them happily.

Why do you think they will resent that?

You just saved them half hour work!!!!!!

Avoiding maid service

If it were up to me, I%26#39;d have clean towels everyday even at my home. So it%26#39;s important to me to have the maid come in and clean. It%26#39;s vacation, and my wife wants others to make it extra nice for her. If you ask me, sometimes they earn more than the $5 I usually leave.

I drop $5 in 10 seconds downstairs. Making the poor person cleaning up after me try to have a decent life is something I don%26#39;t mind paying for....

I call to refuse service if I don%26#39;t really need it...not to save the $5, but so I don%26#39;t have maid in the room when returning after breakfast or lunch, to freshen up

You should still tip at the end of your stay.

You should still tip at the end of your stay.

You should still tip at the end of your stay.

You should still tip at the end of your stay.

hey, if you don%26#39;t feel you have to tip, then don%26#39;t

i am sure you won%26#39;t be the first one.

Tell me this, when you go to a restaurant, after you finished, do you take the dishes back to the kitchen and wash?

Do you clean the table before you leave?

This sounds like what Conversationist would post

A lot of weird responses. I don%26#39;t see any reason a person HAS to have their room cleaned by the maid and then tip if they just don%26#39;t prefer to do that. Some people want and need all kinds of extra attention of hotel staff and that is fine for them too. Why do people care if Junior Planner doesn%26#39;t want maid service and therefore also happens to not need to tip. If the drink person comes by and I didn%26#39;t want a drink, should I tip anyway?

I%26#39;ve turned down housekeeping services before. It really depends upon what%26#39;s going on. If I%26#39;m still sleeping %26amp; they knock, I%26#39;ll turn it down but request towels. I do that for my convenience. Usually they%26#39;re thrilled.

I still tip - it was my choice to refuse service.

Squeak, squeak, squeak.
