Continued from yesterdays report. Got in late and of course I couldn%26#39;t get myself to sleep in. Got in at about 2:00am and woke up at 5:15am. My friend was there for work so i didn%26#39;t want to get out of bed and disturb him. So i lay in bed until 7:15am when he woke up. Headed down for breakfast. While walking outside the previous day, I noticed a banner on the wooden street barriers in front of the Aladdin for P.F. Changs breakfast buffet express, $9.99. When we got to the restaurant there was a price sign, $9.99, $6.99 for hotel guests. Excellent. The buffet is located on the second floor of PF Changs and has limited seating. I would say approximately seating for 60. On the buffet, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, mcdonald style hash browns, something that i wasn%26#39;t quite sure was, fruit bowl with balls of melon, honey dew, pineapple, etc., individual yogurts, milk boxes, juice boxes, assorted cereals, and finally whole fruit, bananas and apples. Oh yeah coffee also. Good enough to get you going in the morning. It%26#39;s a little chaotic up there due to the limited space. The staff are constantly clearing tables and do not pay attention to the diners, but for $6.99, well worth it. So $10.00 after tip.
My friend took off for work again and I was on my own again for the day. During breakfast we discussed the plan for the evening and decided on Lance Burton. I had seen him quite a few years ago and was looking forward to seeing him again. I headed out for the day and went to check my email first. I think I still have about 20 minutes of time on my card. Here%26#39;s the code if anyone wants it, 00292566-903030. Headed to the Monte Carlo to gamble which was becoming a bad habit which I should of changed because I wasn%26#39;t getting anywhere. I think it goes through every gamblers mind that it%26#39;s going to get better, but rarely does. Oh well, i gamble for entertainment not to make money, but you like to win once in a while. Most times i was just hoping to break even. Met some cool guys from Jersey. They seemed to be doing well considering they had blackjack strategy cards. So I was there for about 2 and a half hours and I don%26#39;t recall the exact amount but i think i was down a little. It was less than a week ago, but it seems like forever. Went over to the Lance Burton box office and was checking availability for that evening . Here%26#39;s the schedule Tues%26amp;Sat, 7:00pm and 10:00pm, Weds, Thurs, Fri, 7:00pm only, $72.55 Mezzanine, $66.50 Balcony. I checked for two together for 7:00pm show but 10:00pm had better seats. She came up with mezzanine E seats 39 and 40. I asked for the seating chart and saw that they were on the very end. I asked if I could get two closer to the middle even if they were farther back. She looked at her co-worker who was staring into space and didn%26#39;t get any acknowledgment and said no, the system gives the best available seats. Ok, anyone have any comments about this? Went back to the Aladdin and sacked out on the couch. I think I slept better on the couch than on the bed. Slept for a little and then ordered some room service. Chicken fried rice, i don%26#39;t recall the exact menu price but it was well under $10.00, $7.95 i think, but there is a hotel charge of $2.50 per person, 19% service charge, and taxes, final total $14.61. No problem with the price but slow service, When I placed the order was told 35 minutes, but after 45 minutes I called them again and they said it was being set up now and would be up in 10-15 minutes. i thought in my mind if it%26#39;s being set up now why is it going to take 10-15 minutes to get up to my room. i just said that when I placed the order I was told it would be 35 minutes. I didn%26#39;t have a hostile tone or anything, I just stated what I was told. She got upset and said, SIR IT';S BEING SET UP NOW! The food arrived and it was fine. No tip, but there is already a service charge included. On the bill it also has a spot for ';additional tip';. I think that is good forum topic. i will post it after I am done.
Bummed around the strip waiting for my friend to get back. Went over to the Monte Carlo and ran into the Jersey guys that I met in the morning and they said, ';hey didn%26#39;t we gamble with you about 7 hours ago?'; Too funny, that%26#39;s a long day of gambling but they were still in the game. Played a little bit then went to the theatre with 10 minutes before show time. Bought some water in the theatre, $4.00, $5.00 after tip. It%26#39;s been a while since I%26#39;ve seen him but there were many recognizable parts of the show. It amazes me that he can do the some of the same acts year after year, but that%26#39;s what makes him a great entertainer. He puts in the same amount of energy and professionalism then he did so many years ago. He even opened with the same opening act which is great slight of hand with doves. He had a few problems during the show, but over the years has obviously learned how to handle every situation. Had a wire problem during the hankerchief act and also had one of the ducks fall off the stage during the closing. Well recommended show. Bravo Lance Burton.
After the show we were thinking of dining options. Fairly late for dinner, around 11:40pm. My friend had been to a italian restaurant at NYNY before so we headed off. Il Formaio. We got there at about 11:50pm and they had no problem seating us even though they close at midnight. Again another great restaurant to sit and people watch as it has the cafe atmosphere seating. My friend had the calzone and I had the chicken cannelloni. Good food, three cannelloni. Not too much that I felt stuffed and not too little that I needed more. Good service, about $25.00 after tip. I don%26#39;t recall what we did after but i assume it was gambling and not winning anything.
Final two days to follow in next report.
