OK BJ players I have a poll for everyone:
A bunch of friends are taking a gambling trip to a certain Nevada destination. A few guys have an idea that if we can get 6 or 7 of us to take over a blackjack table and no one take a hit on anything that is a possible bust hand(i. e. 12 and up) no matter what the dealer shows, that we can clean house.
We are all accomplished players, but I am just not conviced of the strategy as it is so against basic strategy rules. Secondly, I think the house may catch on and break up the game after a period of time.
Curious as to other players thoughts. Thanks for the input.

it wont work,

My thoughts: First, each hand is independent of the other. Simply ';conspiring'; to not take a potentially bust card does not affect each hand%26#39;s odds of beating the dealer.
In the end, you are going against the odds of coming close to beating the dealer%26#39;s better cards by deciding NOT to take a possible bust card. You would be standing on a 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 when the dealer is showing a 7, 8, 9 or 10. You will invariably lose using this strategy even in a relatively short time because you%26#39;re not taking the additional card which may increase your chances of beating what is otherwise a good dealer%26#39;s hand.
As Gus put it so succinctly, it won%26#39;t work.
I think you%26#39;re friends are dreaming. lol
You will all lose. Look at what it says on the green felt at the BJ table. Dealer must hit to 16 and soft 17%26#39;s. If it was dangerous to hit 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, then the casino%26#39;s wouldn%26#39;t allow their dealers to hit it either. The average dealer%26#39;s hand over the long run is something like 18.45, so even if were given 18 at every deal you would lose.
The casino you are thinking about doing this in would not stop you. They would set aside a table for you. They would probably even give you your own cocktail waitress. They would most certainly offer you a breakfast buffet. And if you stayed long enough and played enough they might buy you dinner. If you are still willing to try to win back your money, they might let you spend the night.
Basic strategy does work. Luck is also a big factor. Streaks work both ways. Money management is important. Have strict win/loss amounts in mind. If you are winning, keep playing. If you are losing, walk away. All of this is easier to say than do however.
It will not work. Get a black jack book and play the correct way and hope to get lucky.
I dont disagree with any of you thats why I asked for opinions to back up my thoughts. I am skeptical as well since I play basic strategy and generally fair quite well.
';We are all accomplished players.'; Yeah, right!! Whoever thought this up is either an idiot or is working for the casinos. I%26#39;d say the same for anyone in the group who goes along with it.
Get one decent card counter in the group who can clue the rest of you in. Otherwise, stick to basic strategy.
This is a recipe for losing your money in a hurry.
great strategy- then go to roulette wheel and wait for a streak of 4 red numbers to come up, then bet your entire stake on black- this always works.
