My husband and I will be arriving at the Tropicana Monday Night. We have never been to Las Vegas and don%26#39;t really know what to expect. I have read post that said Tropicana was one of the worst casinos. Why? Help!!
Las Vegas trip next week....Need Pointers
It is old, rundown, poorly laid out and it really smells funny - like someone%26#39;s old, musty, funky basement.
I%26#39;ve never stayed there so I can%26#39;t opine on the rooms, but the casino leaves a lot to be desired. For the same money, you likely could have found a much better place.

need help? cancel and book somwhere else.
Tropicana is right across the street from the MGM in one direction and Excaliber in the other direction. You can get to many other places on foot and the monorail (expensive and perhaps inconvenient) stops at MGM, so you don%26#39;t have to spend much time in the Tropicana casino you can get anywhere on the Strip.
I don%26#39;t know if you have read the hotel reviews. If not, type Tropicana into the search box to the upper left of this page and you can read reviews from TA members who have stayed there. I glanced and the reviews don%26#39;t look too bad. Just realize this is a budget hotel and if all you need is a place to sleep and clean up it will do. You can go have your fun and gamble at other casinos if you don%26#39;t like the atmosphere at the Trop.
Looks like the garden rooms get the worst reviews, might ask for a room in the tower.
jh, if you are in a tower room, you will be all right. If you are in a garden room, I would strongly encourage you to upgrade to a tower room, either now or when you check in. If you have to pay a little extra, do it. If you find the Trop casino to be run down you can always spend your time somewhere else, but you don%26#39;t want to have to sleep in a subpar room.
I have never stayed there so cannot comment on rooms. However you will have fun in Vegas no matter what!!! You are right across from MGM and NYNY. You do not spend much time in your room anyways and if the first room they give you is bad ask for a different room until you are satisfied.
Have fun visiting all the other casinos and do not forget to go downtown one night!!!!
Sharon, what is the best way toget downtown, bus cab.etc..
i agree with Sharon and przyk. if you don%26#39;t like the atmosphere inside the Trop%26#39;s casino, you%26#39;re on a great area of the strip with lots of other places to gamble that aren%26#39;t far away.
you%26#39;ll probably find you won%26#39;t spend much time in your room anyways! i think trying to scare you and tell you to cancel your booking and go someplace else is just a useless type of comment. geez.
jh7751, i%26#39;m very excited for you for your first trip! while the trop isn%26#39;t a luxury hotel, it%26#39;s got a great location. for a fun atmosphere, you might want to check out Hooters (right behind the Trop).
You will have so much fun since it is your first trip. Relax, ask for the nicest room they have upon checkin, tell them it is your first trip, be friendly. You will be so busy taking in the sights and so excited being in Vegas. I know people that stayed at the Trop and loved it and others that would not stay there. That can be the case with any ';older'; property. Go have a great time and you%26#39;ll be planning your next trip before you know it!
