Would you recommend the tour to Laughlin? Thinking this may be an opportunity to see the countryside without the cost. Where would you recommend catching the tour bus? I believe I read there is one at the Flamingo.
Laughlin Bus Tour??
Two friends of mine returned from there 2 weeks ago. They said it was awful. A dump. Even the food was bad.
Laughlin Bus Tour??
The ';countryside'; is pretty much flat , boring desert. I agree too that Laughlin was a waste of time with lousy food and lots of low budget travelers and very tight slots. They do seem to have some folks on the Forum who enjoyed their day , but we didn%26#39;t. The only good thing(s) are that it was free, including the lunch, and we picked a day on which it was scheduled to rain heavily in Vegas ( very rare) and it did, while we had a sunny day in Laughlin. Once was more than enough , thank you!
I have taken the bus trip to Laughlin and enjoyed it.
It%26#39;s about an hour and a half bus ride. I learned lots of interesting information from the bus driver. It includes a free buffet lunch. The trip is no longer free, since the rise in fuel prices. I believe it was $5.00 per person. On the return trip they show a video.
You get a few hours in Laughlin to gamble or sightsee. I believe it was about 4 or 5 hours.
If you choose to gamble, I suggest table games over slot machines. I won about $150.00 playing blackjack at $5 per hand.
Laughlin may not be for everyone, but if you need a little break from the hectic pace of Las Vegas, I would definately recommend it.
My friends and I took this tour last September. We got picked up at our hotel (Tuscany Suites), picked up at a few more hotels before being driven somewhere on the outskirts of town where we all had to get off the bus and get our tickets for the trip. It seems that this place was some sort of terminal, because there were a number of destinations. I think we paid something like $5, but we then got a coupon book to use at the Golden Nugget in Laughlin. Found the bus trip (around 90min) ok, sometimes interesting. The bus dropped us off at the Golden Nugget. The majority of people there were quite elderly. We found the casino to be tight but had a fabulous steak in one of their restaurants, cant remember which one though. We were able to use some of the coupons we had been given. Had a walk around the other few casinos but all were unimpressive. The drive back to Vegas was great, got to see the sunset over Vegas and it was awesome.
If you have some time to spare and want to get away from the bright lights for a day and just chill then I suppose it would be ok. If we had only been on a short break to Vegas I would have considered it a wasted day, but we were on an 11 day holiday so we didnt mind.
It would have been nice to have sat alongside the river for a while but we didnt find any access from the casinos. I wonder why!!!
Wouldnt go there again but at least I can say that we have seen some of the surrounding area and it didnt cost a fortune.
Thankyou for the posts. We are in Vegas for 7 days and thought it would be nice to relax one day. I had heard there were water taxis etc. Perhaps not. I must admit, I%26#39;m disappointed. I do understand there are always different expectations from different people but this one is looking too good!
I went on the Laughlin bus tour once. While I did have fun and even won some money I would not do it again only because I do not want to lose my precious Las Vegas time.
If you just want a break during your 7 days there I say do it. If you end up liking it great and if you dont at least it was cheap.
I went several years ago and enjoyed the water taxi%26#39;s. Free lunch was OK. You can go down to the end of the strip by water and get off at Harrahs, I believe, and relax on the beach.
Maybe a side trip to the Valley of Fire, or Red Rock Canyon would be time well spent...instead of aging casinos in Laughlin.
Just a thought.
Good thought!!!
OK... curious now. Tell me more about Valley %26amp; Red Rock.
