LV Club & The Plaza-they are not the same Casino?

Looking at old posts and I see where people are referring to Vegas Club in the Plaza, by the Plaza is it the same place. Then I went to the Plaza site and don%26#39;t see anything that says Vegas Club? Just figuring out Fremont area and the casino%26#39;s on that street under the canopy. THanks for clearing this up.

I believe they are owned by the same corporation and they are right next door to one another on Fremont St. We have stayed at the Plaza but not at VC. We feel the Plaza has deteriorated from a maintenance standpoint ( although some have mentioned receiving a renovated room) and would not stay there in the future, but if there is anything specific I can answer I think I could . Both have locations have a casino, sleeping rooms and a coffee shop style restaurant- and both have a ';more upscale'; restaurant- Great Moments Room in the Vegas Club and Center Stage in the Plaza.

I think the rooms at Plaza are a bit more expensive than those at Vegas Club, but not by much. Can%26#39;t speak to the condition of the rooms at Vegas Club.

Ruteye: The Plaza and LV Club are across the street from each other...I stayed at LV Club, one night, waiting to get into the Plaza (comped rooms)....disliked the rooms at LVClub, dirty, but I guess I stayed in the wrong ';tower';...would not stay there again...The Plaza was acceptable to me, especially playing on their slots...even if I%26#39;m staying in other downtown hotels, I spend a lot of time in the Plaza casino...even had their 8 dollar buffet a couple times...The pool is on the 3rd or 4th floor, next to the tennis courts...pool is small..many people that stay downtown in hotels without pools seem to use the Plaza pool...

Different casinos and I like the LV club much better..(quick with the cocktails) but downtown, I would recommend The California or the Main Street Station :)

Thanks Lulu you answered my questions as to what restaurant is in LV Club. Others your info is appreciated. I find it strange how old posts on some places DT for eg. Mermaids ';Not everyone will step into this place etc'; is what others have said but looking at pictures it looks like a decent lounge and safe? We want to spend a day DT and I am sure will check out all the places.... Thanks for your comments.

All of the places under the FSE canopy are ';safe';, at least as safe as anywhere on the Strip. Mermaids is a rip-off joint that uses bait-and-switch tactics to get you to pay for something you never wanted in the first place. Get some free beads from the girlies at the entrance. If you%26#39;ve never had a fried twinkie, go in and try one. Otherwise, there is really nothing worth your time inside.

Nothing ';Unsafe'; about mermaids. As the other poster mentioned they have girls standing outside giving away cheap mardi gras beads to lure customers in to try their slots ( very tight ) and also have signs advertising cheap drinks, hot dogs, and junk foods like fried twinkies and oreos. Nothing wrong with cruising through to see what you think- nothing bad will happen, but I suspect you will just not bother to stay around. They have a similar property Le Bayou right across the street.

The nice thing about Downtown is that you can dart in and out of the casinos as much as you like- unlike the Strip they are all close together . much like shops in a mall. We have found we%26#39;d just as soon patronize Fremont, Four Queens, Golden Gate and Fitzgeralds as Mermaids, for low minimum gambling, but absolutely no harm in having a look inside! You%26#39;ll try them all if you%26#39;re staying Downtown, I%26#39;m sure.

I also recommend a walk down to the El Cortez during the Daylight hours. They are slightly off theFremont Canopy, but just a couple of blocks. You may pass a couple of vagrants , but other than softly asking for change ( ignore them) they shouldn%26#39;t bother you. El Cortez has low stakes tables and fairly loose machines and is a favorite of many of the retired locals. We go there to play roulette and always have fun.

If you%26#39;re staying Downtown look in the Parking Garage right next to Walgreens for a elevator to the second level. Ther should be a sign next to it saying Fremont Street Experience. These are the offices of the group that puts on the Light Display and other events Downtown. Go up in the elevator to their office and ask the receptionist for their ';coupon sheet.'; It has 2/1 buffet coupons for Fremont, Main Street Station and Fitzgeralds and $10 off a restaurant at California Casino ( Pasta Pirate , which is good). She%26#39;ll probably ask for an ID to be sure you are out of state residents, but it%26#39;s worh getting !

We love Downtown and will be back for another visit in three weeks- but now choose to stay at the Golden Nugget.

Ruteye- I would suggest making a point of going downtown for an evening, for sure. It%26#39;s really not very big and if you plan to spend the day I could see leaving before the light show starts up unless you definitely want to spend several hours playing in the various casinos or going to one or more afternoon show.

Hi guys we have been to Fremont a few times but it has always been late in the evening and we see the light show do some gambling drink a fair bit and its 3am and cabbing back to the strip, so this time I want to go mid day see around the area and I would like to walk to El Cortz (spelt wrong) check out some different food places and make a day of it. I have never felt unsafe DT but I realize not to wander far and to use common sense. Thanks for all your info.

I think there are the same owners for Plaza (Las) Vegas Club, Gold Spike and Western.

Unlike some posters I have never had a problem downtown and I have been almost everywhere, at all times and sometimes dressed up..

I think they%26#39;re both owned by Barrick Gaming. I know for sure that the Plaza is, fairly sure LVC is, too. At one point, they were owned by Jackie Gaughan, whose son Mike is still in the biz at South Point. Mike used to own Coast Casinos until he sold it to Boyd.
