Reasonably priced accommodation over New Years??? HELP

%26#39;Reasonably priced accommodation%26#39; and %26#39;over New Year%26#39;s%26#39; are two phrases that don%26#39;t sit comfortably together in Vegas! It%26#39;s absolutely one of the most expensive few days of the year. Added to that as NYE is a Monday night this year the hotels will no doubt cash in even more by charging high rates for the weekend leading up to the big night.

I%26#39;ve had a look at some options and certain hotels (Flamingo, Harrahs) are showing rates of $250-300 per night over New Year%26#39;s. I doubt it will get any better than that if you want to stay on the Strip. I%26#39;d book as soon as possible as rates will almost certainly go higher than that nearer the time. Downtown or off-Strip would come in a little less.

Reasonably priced accommodation over New Years??? HELP

Any suggestions for off the strip/downtown?

Does shuttles / public transport run all night on New Years? Will it be better to find somewhere within walking distance?

I was thinking maybe stay 3-4 nights on strip and then the nights the prices start to go up stay off strip / downtown.

Off-Strip - Orleans (very nice) or Gold Coast (not as nice but still acceptable).

I%26#39;ve only ever stayed at the Golden Nugget Downtown. It%26#39;s the most expensive hotel there and its New Year rates probably won%26#39;t be that much different to the cheaper Strip places. I%26#39;m sure others will have suggestions.

The Strip is closed to traffic from late afternoon on NYE so transportation options are limited to taxis using alternative routes. I%26#39;m not certain if the monorail runs.

Yes, the monorail does run on NYE.

This will give you an idea of what was available last year as well as transportation. Cabs will be available but you will have to wait longer than usual- the lines can be very long.

The Orleans, Gold Coast and Sam%26#39;s Town are good off strip hotels(other than the GC they are not within walking distance) that will have cheaper (relatively speaking) rates for NYE. Many of the hotels will have a minumum stay requirements.

If you%26#39;re travelling all that way for NYE, you might as well stay on the strip where the big party is. Try Barbary Coast. Ideal location, generally affordable.

If you want something nearby but affordable, there%26#39;s a Super 8 Motel one LONG but walkable block from the mid-strip area (and BC) on Koval Street. Maybe spend the first four nights at BC and the last two there, from which you can easily walk to/from the strip on NYE.

Reasonably priced = $ 350.00 a nite American dollars in advance.

Correct me if i am wrong...but even though a hotel in vegas can quote you a price for NYE....there is some law that prevents them from accepting reservations 11 months in advance. Try calling them. I went thru this 2 years ago.

The best deal I see on the strip is the Riviera for $176/night on AANhotels. Downtown the best deal is El Cortez at $75/night.

The hotels are able to book rooms 11 months in advance. I just booked my room at Flamingo on harrahs.com yesterday.

There is always some hotels that don%26#39;t book up..this year, a few very nice on-strip ones went under $300/nt the week before NYE.

Residence Inn Hughes Center was around $220 a few weeks before, not too far off strip... Tuscany Suites had a good rate, very close to mid strip...so watch out for a chance to move up in quality or down in price as the 31st approaches.
