The Orleans is $200 more expensive then the Gold Coast.
Which one would you choose and why?
Is either in a better location then the other?
Are they within walking distance to the strip?
I think they have a free shuttle going to approx 11pm at night, which is the best way to get back to your hotel after this time?
Thankyou
Orleans v's Gold Coast
ORLEANS is better.
Gold Coast attracts an undesireable element from East LA on the weekends.
Facilities are better.
Orleans v's Gold Coast
I have stayed at the Gold Coast, the rooms are nice, and it%26#39;s a 15 minute walk to the strip. I believe the Orleans is alot farther from the strip. Depends on what is important to you. I would stay at the Gold Coast.
BeckAussie: Orleans is ';nicer';..(.rooms, pool, buffet, etc.), but not 200 hundred dollars nicer...IMO...I have stayed at both many times, usually free rooms and buffets, because I play slots mainly at Coast casinos....GoldCoast is closer to the strip, but personally I would never walk to the strip...No reason to, as they run shuttles to Barbary Coast, or just take a taxi, doesn%26#39;t cost much...GC has the advantage of being close to The Rio and Palms, whereas The Orleans sits off by itself....Orleans now has a 5 dollar ';resort'; fee each day...not sure if GC does...You may get a good view at Orleans, but not at GC....Late at night, you can catch the Rio shuttle and walk across the street to GC (not sure the time they discontinue service)....hope this helps...
Gold Coast is next to Rio and Palms, Orleans next to nohting
Orleans has a good pool, Gold Coast pool is nothing
Pool is not important as it will be winter. Sounds like Gold Coast will suit us a little better. Worst case sceniro if you can%26#39;t get a shuttle bus/taxi back a 15 min walk isn%26#39;t too bad. Also having a few more casinos around would be an advantage.
So you find being off the strip not too much of an inconvenience?
hey jungle...its your pal m%26#39;lady...great assessment as usual...you are a seasoned veteran on this forum and always right on....btw no resort fee at gold coast yet but seeing what sammy is doing to the orleans I bet we%26#39;ll see one soon.....i miss our old banned friends
btw folks no way is it a safe walk to the strip or back....please don%26#39;t try it

I agree with jungle 100%. Everything in that post is correct. I have stayed at both, in fact stayed at GC 3 times last year.
1) Both are very similar as they are owned by the same parent company.
2) GC is in a better location, as it is across the parking lot from the Rio, and across the street from the Palms. Both definately walkable. There is nothing around the Orleans.
3) I would not walk to the strip from the GC. We did it on New Year%26#39;s Eve, but that was only because the strip was closed to vehicular traffic and there were about 2000 others doing it too, so there were lots of people around. I would not try it now.
4) The shuttle is no problem. It will drop you off right at the Barbary Coast. I think it runs a little past 11 pm. You would need to take a taxi after that.
GC is my favorite place to stay. I am able to go to Vegas 2 or 3 times a year because I save money there. The rooms have always been clean, the staff is very helpful. The food is inexpensive.
I have never seen the undesireables mentioned earlier.
I would save my $200, stay at the GC and spend that extra on the slots!!
Have fun.

mlady: I know you miss the ole guys...Don%26#39;t ever tell anyone, but I kinda do too, even tho Joe always wanted to meet me at the gym!! Can you imagine the things he would comment on today? Would really add some spice to the forum...Would love to tell SS to ';stuff'; the EI one more time, even tho I%26#39;ve been there many times and like it.....just more fun that way!! I hope the GC and Orleans don%26#39;t change too much...Guess the Barbary Coast will..I can foresee the elimination of the shuttles, as the new owners seem to nickel and dime everything.....I still like to stay downdown though, so have some options...
