Hello, we are two families, seven in total, traveling from England to Lake Tahoe in July. We plan to Start at San Francisco, drive to Tahoe, drive through Death Valley and Yosemite Park and then on to Grand Canyon but i am having a real struggle finding somewhere reasonable to rent at South Shore (i think this is the area we need to be in?). There seems to be so many properties out there i don%26#39;t know where to start and so many web addresses to choose from. Has anyone done this kind of trip before, can you offer some advice about where exactly to stay, or which website to deal with?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Mari

How many nights? What is your budget? Why would you need to stay in South Lake Tahoe?
# of Nights is important because in the summer many places require 1 week.
Budget is important so we can recommend something you could afford.
Please provide your reasons for wanting to be in south lake tahoe so we can suggest something else if it%26#39;s appropriate.
rentals in Tahoe
Hello again,
We would like to stay at Tahoe for 1 week (29th July - 5th Aug) and thought the South would be best due to us driving down to the Canyon at the end of the week. We would like to take part in Horse riding, Fishing, Water ports and possibly Golf while at Tahoe, wanting this to be the relaxing part of a two week holiday. After leaving Tahoe we plan to drive through the parks and land at the Canyon and spend a few days on a trip in the Canyon before going to Las Vegas and flying home. I hope this information is helpful and I hope you can come up with some helpful information for me.
Many Thanks
Mari
Check out the Forest Inn. The have 2 bedroom units with a full kitchen. They are like a 2 bedroom apartment (flat). The master bedroom has it%26#39;s own bathroom and TV. The smaller bedroom has 2 beds. There are a few pools and hot tubs. I believe breakfast was free during the week when we were there last. It is in California but right behind Harrah%26#39;s casino. You can walk to all of the casino%26#39;s and many great restaurants from there, as well as stores. The price has always been more than reasonable considering what you get. Having the fully stocked kitchen will save you a fortune.
What about Stateline, Nevada, in the South Lake Tahoe Area? There are multiple vacation rentals available, especially if you%26#39;re not insistent on lakeside accomodations, which will cost you a premium. Stateline and other nearby Nevada cities offer iinland/mountain slope condos and houses. Try vrbo.com (for starters) and search in the Stateline and Heavenly sections of Nevada. (And be sure to factor in cleaning and administrative fees when comparing prices.)
We were in a somewhat similar situation when looking where to stay in the Reno and Tahoe area in Aug. 2006. We decided on a 3BR/3BA condo in the ';Mountain Shadows'; complex (Incline Village, NV-- northeast corner of Lk. Tahoe), which was %26lt;$165/night and had a swimming pool on the grounds. We also picked-and-chose Tahoe-related activities separately (hikes, lookouts, trips to Squaw Valley, short stop at a casino, etc.) If you have a vehicle, don%26#39;t feel as if you need to settle in one spot that has most stuff on-site.
Good luck; have fun there!
(PS Other possibilities might be to do an internet search for ';Stateline Nevada vacation rentals'; or ';Heavenly Ski Area vacation rentals';)
