My wife and I are going to Las Vegas March 12-19. We are staying at the Stratosphere and know ahead of time what to expect. We want to rent a car for 2 days and take off to Hollywood too. We would like any tips on what can not be missed and a few insider tips on great deals.
strat... first time in Vegasyou tips for LA or vegas?
strat... first time in Vegasfirst time to either city so any tips would be great!
ok, i%26#39;ll comment on LA, but i think you should post this question in LA forum. First you will have about 4 hour drive from Vegas to LA, that%26#39;s without traffic and stops. So plan ahead, better travel on weekday vs weekend, as most likley weekend drive will have traffic all LA people going back to LA from Vegas. Second, 2 days not much time, but dueable. You probally want to base yourself in Hollywood or Beverly Hills. If not going to amusement parks (Disney, Universal, 6 flags, nuts berry farm), you might want to visit Santa Monica see ocean, there are a lot of cook restaurants and shops there, if you base yourself in Hollywood, in you can walk on Hollywood Blvd, see the stars (not actual movie stars :) ) chineese theater and that place where the oscars are held now (forget the name) Hollywood and HIghland corner. You can drive to Beverly Hills about 15 mnts from Hollywood and see Rodeo Drive, there are lots of nice resturants there. You can also go to Universal Stodios City walk (not actual park), there are lots of cool shops and restaurants there, about 10 mnts drive from Hollywood on 101 if no traffic.
Been to vegas 5 times in last 7 years. Stayed at the Strat twice. We liked the Strat. Basic hotel nothing special. Top of the World rest. excellent (expensive, but its the best view in Vegas). Strat is at the North end of the strip, so its good that you have a car. Another thing you must do is a trip to Hoover Dam, its truely a wonder.
Have Fun,
