Things to do New Years Night

I am from Australia and spending our first New Years overseas and what better place then Las Vegas. We are so excited.

So what happens in Las Vegas on New Years night?

Do I need to pre book anything? Are the buffets very busy this night?

Does each casino have a different thing on?

Thanks

Things to do New Years Night

As I suggested when answering your buffet question, the forum search will prove very useful in answering your questions about New Year%26#39;s Eve. There%26#39;s been countless posts in the past about this topic that will give you some idea about what goes on.

To briefly answer a couple of your questions, you should book anything you want to do (shows, restaurants) as far in advance as possible and maybe expect to pay extra in a lot of places. Be prepared for crowds of people that make moving about anywhere very difficult and be aware that after a certain time many hotels only allow registered guests to enter the building. Strolling up and down the Strip checking out different places just isn%26#39;t going to happen!

Things to do New Years Night

You will need to pre-book everything!! Everything will be busy that night-including the buffets. Make hotel, show and restaurant reservations as early as possible. The casinos do have private parties but many of them are by invitation only. Prices for just about everything will skyrocket on NYE.

The strip will be closed off for traffic in the late afternoon. The highway ramps will be closed as well as the crossovers on the strip. It then becomes one great big party. If fills up with people who are generally having a good time and by the time midnight comes around it is wall to wall people. At most points on the strip you will not be able to move on your own. You just have to move along with the crowd. Many people will be drunk and very very rowdy. They had to ban glass containers because people were getting hurt with them. Some hotels will not let you in unless you are a guest. It may take quite a while to get back to your hotel after midnight. About 7 hotels will set off fireworks at midnight. If you have ever seen pictures of Time Square (NYC) you will have a general idea of what it is like. Fremont Street (downtown) has its own party- for a fee. I did it once and that was enough for me.

This will give you an idea of what went on last NYE:

Blagger,

If everyone use the forum search there would no longer be a need for new post. Let people ask what they want an d let other people answer. If it bothers you that repeat questions are asked --don%26#39;t read them. Some of us like to answer and read.

04, I frequently suggest the use of the forum search to new posters because:

1) It%26#39;s a very useful tool that they%26#39;re probably not aware of.

2) On popular topics such as this they%26#39;ll probably be able to get additional useful information that won%26#39;t subsequently appear in the answers to their question.

Everybody should give as much advice as they like and by mentioning the search facility I feel I%26#39;m helping the inexperienced forum user to maximise the TA experience.

Sorry Blagger, I thought you were trying to blow the new poster off. My bad!

Beck, we learned the hard way this past NYE when we thought we could easily make it from Caesar%26#39;s Palace back to MGM after a show to get to a NYE party at Studio 54. It was quite an odyssey.

Stay somewhere on the Strip, and then don%26#39;t plan anything that requires you to move more than one casino in either direction!

The hotels usually don%26#39;t advertise their NYE parties until around Thanksgiving (4th Thurs. in Nov.)

If you want to experience the fireworks on the Strip, don%26#39;t spend the money for a NYE party in one of the hotels/clubs. We found ourselves conflicted by wanting to watch the fireworks, but still wanting to see the midnight celebration in the club, which, because of the bucks we paid, we ended up doing.

Many will tell you that you can%26#39;t get into any hotel/casino on NYE except the one you%26#39;re staying at. That wasn%26#39;t our experience. We easily went through four different casinos without being checked.

One of the benefits in paying the big bucks for a NYE party in one of the name clubs is you don%26#39;t have to wait in a long line to get in, which you might otherwise have to do any other night.

So, yes, pre-book any show you want to see. Pre-book your NYE party the end of Nov. or first of Dec. if you%26#39;re so inclined, although you can probably still get tickets closer to NYE, but you run the risk of a possible sell-out.

Casinos do have different things going on, and the clubs have different themes, such as Naughty New Years Eve, but you%26#39;ll find, too, that the entire Strip is one big party and that one is free!

Thanks for all the info. Wow don%26#39;t know what to do on NY night. Too many options. Some of the casinos partys are very expensive and that%26#39;s in US dollars (gets worst once converted to Aussie dollars!)

At the casino NY parties is it so packed that you spend half the night trying to get drinks?

Any suggestions for good medium sized parties that aren%26#39;t so expensive?

I think I would like to see the fireworks. Where is the best view of the fireworks?

Beck, Risque through a NYE party that was less expensive than Studio 54, and folks reported a fun party. Likewise, Tabu%26#39;s party was $100 pp cheaper than Studio 54, but folks still had fun.

We had no problem getting drinks at Studio 54. I also found the bartenders were first class - they could pour much better drinks than the club bartenders I%26#39;m used to out here!

We did have a problem finding the advertised hors devours and it was tacky that the free drinks in the open bar (free as in, part of the cost of the party) lasted only from 10:00p - 11:00p, and most people were showing up around 10:30p.

Still, it was an absolutely fun night partying with lots of great people. I would recommend the Studio 54 NYE party to others, but keep in mind, you%26#39;ll miss the fireworks or you%26#39;ll miss the midnight club celebration - can%26#39;t do both!
