I am planning on going to Vegas with my family this summer. I%26#39;ve been there many time before but this time with my 2 young boys (5 and 8) with granny and mom. I want to find out if anyone can tell me which hotel is %26#39;kid friendly%26#39; with activities and a good kids pool. We%26#39;re only going to stay there for 3 nights. I%26#39;m planning on doing all the free outdoor activities like the volcano, fountain display etc. I also wanted to take my kids to see the outdoor Pirate show but heard that it%26#39;s gone a little more %26#39;adult%26#39; theme? I was there 3 years ago and they were just building that new event outside Treasure Island. Other activities is the Grand Canyon, Valley of fire and Red Rock Canyon (?), M%26amp;Ms, etc.
After our stay, we plan on driving out to Anehiem. Anyone know how long of a drive it would be to Disneyland? I drove to LA 10 years ago and it was about 4.5 hours. Also, is it worth going to Legoland? Also had the thought either 6 flags might be an alternative to Disneyland... decisions, decisions...
Thanks for your advice!

do a search for kids info - this is discussed ad nauseaum.
don%26#39;t think by skipping the TI show because it is ';adult'; you will avoid all things adult - you won%26#39;t. your children will see large billboards for strip joints, see porn slappers, drunks and other ';adult behavior';. since you have been many times before you know this.
you will get many hotel suggestions. with your family group what about a timeshare w/ multiple bedrooms and a pool - away from strip and not so exposed to adult activities 24/7.
you%26#39;ll get plenty of ideas on your search and from others
Vegas and Disneyland trip in June
Thanks Bridgefan_1. That%26#39;s not a bad idea... I stayed at the Hilton (with the Startrek Experience) and that%26#39;s not a bad location... kinda off the strip. If we are going out, it%26#39;s only during the day. I want to take them to M%26amp;M world and Coke. My kids like exploring so the Canyon trips would be great and fun.
The hotel is mostly for r%26amp;r and pool time. In the past when we went, we did things that interests us but didn%26#39;t think about kids stuff at the time...
now I wonder if we should just fly direct to SFO (we have friends down there)... airfare is so much cheaper to LV and I don%26#39;t mind the drive from LV to Disneyland. I think 6 flags is in Santa Clara?
Depending on your average travel speed and driving habits, South Strip area to Disneyland is about 3.5 - 4 hours assuming no stops and no real bad traffic. Time of day is everything in LA area traffic. Since you have children, adjust stop times accordingly.
I think MGM is a good location for kids. They%26#39;ve got a great pool with a lazy river. There%26#39;s the lion habitat, Rain Forest Cafe, M%26amp;M and also Excalibur is within walking distance. There%26#39;s a lot of stuff for kids in that part of the strip.
Thanks Carolina_Jim... Original plan was to travel perhaps on a Sunday but after some thoughts perhaps it is not a good idea to bring my kids there. I guess the last time I was there, I did not notice as much all the adult oriented themed signage or advertising. Most from what I can remember were on taxi ad panels , some on the large outdoor marketing boards and the garbage that they distrbute at night. Overall, it don%26#39;t recall it being that bad but I now look at it that my kids will see some of these things and I think it%26#39;s too early for them to understand or be exposed to it... (they ask lots of questions and might be even harder giving answers that they%26#39;ll understand)
I wanted to bring my mom to LV coz she%26#39;s never been here before and kids to explore the canyons and disneyland. The airfare price was the least expensive for a vacaation trip. Oh well, thx for your input.
Your kids are the wrong age for Six Flags. Not enough there for them to enjoy. They%26#39;ll love D%26#39;land. Never been to Legoland but have heard great things about it and it seems to be a good match for the age range of your kids.
As perviously mentioned, 4.5 hours from Vegas to Anaheim seems about right without traffic (ha!) and meal/bathroom stops.
Yay!! Your kids will have a blast. We did the same trip in June 2006 with our 5 %26amp; 13 year old, we did Disney first and then Vegas.
The Drive was about 3 and a half hours between Disney and Vegas.
We stayed at the Flamingo and the kids preferred it over being at Disney. The courtyard with the animals was a hit my son loved the flamingo`s and turtles. The staff at the buffet sat us in VIP seating so our kids could sit by the window and the staff was excellent . We
told the front desk at night when our little one goes to sleep we would be leaving our 13 yr old to babysit and they said if she has any concerns to call and they would send someone up right away.
The pool area is amazing there is I think 3 pools all linked together by waterslides totally kid approved!
We stayed at the mirage a few monthes earlier and I can say they
were`nt anywhere near as kid friendly as the Flamingo. We were alone on that trip though. My kids loved walking the strip at night my son was in Awe of the `castle` and the `pyramid`.We were`nt
bothered by anyone handing out the `flyers` I think they respected
the fact that there was kids with us.
You have a great time. Guessing your driving down not renting a car in Vegas! We drove from Vancouver Island and the half way point is
around Grant`s pass we travelled through on the July 4th weekend
if you are thinking of this time make sure you make hotel reservations well in advance.
Have a great vacation!
Best pools in lower price hotels-MonteCarlo,Flamingo, Luxor

Thx aloha4now and dkekitalo... great tips. Flamingo actually was the very first hotel we stayed at ... 15 years ago! I remembered it being very clean and nice. Haven%26#39;t been there in my other visits as I wanted to try out as many hotels as I can.
aloha4now, I%26#39;m actually going to fly from Bellingham. My original plan was to fly down to California and then drive to LV and back but it was hard to resist return airfare including a mini-van at a little over $200 pp! So that%26#39;s why I thought do LV first and then Disneyland coz whether I leave from YVR or SEA and with Alaska, Westjet, Harmony, etc... they%26#39;re all at least $300!
I also thought my kids would get a kick out of the castle (that%26#39;s what they%26#39;re into now) and I didn%26#39;t think the night scene was bad. Still thinking about it...
I kind of skimmed some of the replies, so forgive me if this has been answered. I saw you mentioned traveling on Sunday. Hopefully you meant to Vegas. Avoid driving to Orange county on Sunday afternoon from Vegas. Crowded traffic going to Vegas from LA on Friday%26#39;s and coming back to LA on Sundays. LA folks going for the weekend.
Vegas will usually give better room prices Sunday through Thursday stays.
