JW Marriott resort vs Platinum

We are having trouble deciding which one of these we will take. Is the neighborhood where the Platinum is situated that bad? Is Marriott really worth the money?

JW Marriott resort vs Platinum

All the reviews I have seen on here or anywhere , none have mentioned the location being bad for Platinum(although its by Ellis Island which people seem to love but have said its not the prettiest location). I am staying there for 1 night(Platinum) in a month so hopefully its good, its only a block and a half behind Ballys and Bellagio so I can%26#39;t imagine its that bad. On the other hand the JW Marriot is 16-17 miles away from the strip, its a beautiful area with a Loews(formerly Hyatt) a Ritz and more all top notch properties but if you plan is to go to Vegas and see the strip every day then you might want to take that into consideration. 17 miles doesn%26#39;t seem like alot but when you factor traffic every day to and from it could add up.

My sister would aways stay 2 nights on the strip at the Veneitian or similar then 2 nights to decompress at the Hyatt, Don%26#39;t know what she will do now that its a Loews (she works for Hyatt and got free rooms) it was perfect for her, for me its just too far away and even though I work for Loews I won%26#39;t be staying out there at all.

The Marriott is supposedly very nice but do you really want to be a $50 cab ride from the Strip with not a lot else in the neighborhood?

Why not stay on the Strip? You can get better value than either of these hotels there and have a much better Vegas experience.

Loews and Ritz Carlton are at Lake Las Vegas by Henderson, nowhere near the Marriott in Summerlin.

Platinum (by Ellis Island) is a block behind Bally%26#39;s but it%26#39;s a long block (10-15 minutes walk) and whilst the hotel%26#39;s location is perfectly safe, the walk sometimes isn%26#39;t great after dark.

2 years ago we stayed at TI so on the strip but we would like something different now.
